What are Forex Quotes? Forex quotes are the prices at which you can buy or sell certain currencies. Reading forex quotes is not very easy at first glance. You really have to understand some factors that affect forex quotes.

The basics of forex quotes - When looking at forex quotes, you will usually see two currencies in a set, which are the base and its counter currency. The base has a value of one.

Usually, the US dollar is used as the base currency, although there are also forex quotes that do not involve the US dollar. Currencies that do not use the US dollar as base currency are called cross currencies. If a certain currency quote surges upward, this implies that the value of the base currency also moves up.

Two-sided forex quotes - When you engage in forex trading, you will often see two-sided forex quotes. These contain the “ask” and the “bid.” The former is the value of the base currency if you buy it and also the value of the counter currency if you sell it. The latter, on the other hand, is the price of the base currency if you sell it and also the price of the counter currency if you buy it.

If you are planning to engage in forex trading,  you need to understand how forex quotes work. Once you understand how to interpret forex quotes, forex trading becomes easier
